KnowledgeLink Pro is an information handling tool.

It allows information, data and graphics to be manipulated, arranged and communicated in a way that allows individuals and teams to be more effective and productive. It uses a linear 'left brain' approach that many people are more comfortable with when it comes to handling detail.

Straight mapping tools like MindManager® are vital for effective planning, but there are times when the ability to bring a larger mass of data together is also critical: for example when you have a number of maps all relating to the same general subject area.

	How do I use it?

KnowledgeLink's Tree format makes it much easier to handle detail oriented projects.

A tree structure consists of main branches, displayed in linear format, with associated notes/detail area underneath.

New branches are created using shortcut keys or via the 'Insert Topic' command in the main menu.

Topics can be dragged, added, deleted or modified easily.

A whole range of advanced functions are also available, including the ability to sync in real time with MindManager and display output from Mindsystems ThemeReader.

The advantage to this format is you can see and manage a much larger volume in a smaller space.

MindManager sync...

A key feature of KnowledgeLink Pro is its ability to synchronize with MindManager in real time.  

'Synchronization' means that any changes within Knowledge Link are instantly relayed to MindManager and visa versa.

This is especially useful when you want to view the overall project in a mind map format, but want to exert greater control over the detailed aspects (notes) using KnowledgeLink.

To start in Sync mode you must open KnowledgeLink from within MindManager:

• In MindManager 6 this is achieved by clicking 'K' icon in the bottom right Add-Ins tool bar.

• In MindManager 7 this is achieved by clicking 'KnowledgeLink V5' on the Add-Ins tool bar.

* Note - When you activate KnowledgeLink in Sync mode and you have an existing MindManager Map open, this will be translated automatically to KnowledgeLink. You will also be given the option to Sync multiple maps. This is great for managing several open maps into one collective source.

	Mindsystems ThemeReader...

Mindsystems ThemeReader is a separate application that works with KnowledgeLink to help you save time and become more productive.

Mindsystems ThemeReader is the latest advancement in information management. Based on years of high level international research, this new technology is actually able to scan information, determine common themes and convert it into a logically summarized KnowledgeLink Tree.

You can summarise and convert 100 page documents in seconds. Information that used to take days to understand can now take minutes, all at the click of your mouse!

You simply right click on a document and choose Mindsystems ThemeReader to convert it. Once the analysis is complete, the information is then arranged and transformed into a fully operable KnowledgeLink Tree. Imagine the possibilities!

	Lock topic branches...

On occasion you may want to distribute KnowledgeLink Trees (KnowledgeLink .klp files) to a group of other users in such a way that they cannot be altered, only viewed.

The 'Locking' function allows you to a password protect various branch topics. Branch topics are locked on a per branch basis. You can use a different password for each branch and you can also elect to lock the notes. When a branch is locked it cannot be changed or deleted, only viewed.

This function is accessed from the main toolbar within the application.

	Ink Tablets...

The Tablet PC provides some useful functions that a standard PC does not, and many of these can be used in conjunction with KnowledgeLink.

• Writing notes by hand directly into the Notes Panel,
• Handwriting recognition,
• Speech recognition,
• Character recognition,
• Gestures,
• Office interfaces.

With these new features meetings, presentations and business trips are more efficient and successful. You can select the features of your pen, such as colour, width, eraser on the tool bar pen. When the pen mode is active you can access additional pen buttons.

	ODBC Importing...

KnowledgeLink has the capability to inetrface with ODBC data sources for advanced usage.

Your PC must be running a ODBC connector before you can use this function.
