KnowledgeLink Pro V5 uses the 'Tree' format to store and manage information.

The advantage to this format is you can see and manage a much larger volume in a smaller space, but also that it appeals to people that prefer more linear/structured displays.

KnowledgeLink's Tree format makes it much easier to handle detail oriented projects.

A tree structure consists of main branches, displayed in linear format, with associated notes/detail area underneath.

New branches are created using shortcut keys or via the 'Insert Topic' command in the main menu.

Topics can be dragged, added, deleted or modified easily.

Sometimes a visual map is not always the best answer...

Mind maps are great for most situations, but they do have 2 obvious limitations:

1. They assume there is one central topic more important than any other. Often in reality projects have several equally important ideas that need to be displayed together but may not necessarily be part of the same concept.
2. Visually the medium cannot handle large volumes of detail, as they often become cluttered and therefore counter-productive.

A much better way to handle these types of projects is to use a linear tree format because it eliminates the above restrictions.
