Mindsystems Amode Activation...
  Mindsystems Amode is activated and verified using your Internet connection. In cases of no Internet connectivity you should select the 'Manual Activation' option and follow the on screen prompts carefully. This will lead you to a screen with a verification code unique to your PC, just click the email link and send the email (including your license key). If you are behind a firewall use the proxy settings to specify your connection details. We recommend installing in trial mode while waiting for a response, therefore allowing you to begin using the product immediately.

  Enhancements:
 
  • Gantt Summary – Accessed from the Gantt Total Bar in 'Gantt Mode'. Click the 'Gantt Summary' orange button to display a project summary. You can see costings, progress, quotes, usage and resources.
  • Resource Summary - In 'Master Resources' next to each resource we have added a 'I' icon. Clicking on this launches a summary specific to that resource, showing tasks and costs. This is useful if you need to see all tasks assigned to a particular resource and/or generate a task list.
  • Usage Field - Usage field in 'Timeline Control' shows the percentage a resource is used during the task timeframe. For example, if you have a task that runs this week and you assign Adam to work on it at 100%, when looking at any other tasks that overlap (ie. other tasks also running this week), Adam will appear as 100% used. If you look at a task that runs next week Adam will appear 0% used because he is not assigned to anything during that time frame.
  • Search Engine Speed - Search function redesigned to produce speed increase of approximately 45% on text groups of 1000 or more words.
  Fixes:
 
  • Unknown Connection Error – On Vista PCs with UAC problems (common for Vista), MSSOAP caused activation issues when communicating with Mindsystems activation servers. This produced a error popup saying "Unknown Error" or "Unable to Communicate with Server". We have eliminated this problem by removing use of Microsoft's MSSOAP and creating our own protocol.
  • XP SP3 Rendering – Stability routines added for Briefcase Mode.
  • Topic Numbering – First digit adopted the text color of the topic box (should always be black).
  • PDF document handling – Stability routines have been added for non-standard PDF fonts and/or potentially corrupted file attachments.

  Enhancements:
 
  • Topic Numbering – Accessed from the Home Tab, this provides visual topic numbering and also works by syncing numbering with Word, Excel, KnowledgeLink and MindManager import/export. Check F1 Help for more info on this feature (Topic: Mindsystems Amode Help > System Functions > Numbering).
  • Recalculate Dates - The Recalculate Dates function allows you to readjust a project(s) to have a new start date. This function requires some understanding, again check F1 Help (Topic: Mindsystems Amode Help > System Functions > Recalculate Dates).
  • Currency Symbols – Currency symbols for many major currencies can now be set in ‘Main Menu > Options > Localization’. This effects items such as Gantt Mode and export Quotes.
  • Copy Percentages – Percentage completed are now copied when you copy and paste a topic.
  • Templates Interface – Panel depth changed to 50/50 to allow more usable space for personal templates.
  • Plus/Minus and Line Definitions – Plus/Minus icons and lines have been increased in size to add visual clarity.
  • Calendar Icon on Tree – In Tree Mode a topic is piece of free form information, anything you like. In Calendar Mode this translates to a task on the Calendar. To show the relationship between these two, when you create a new task in Calendar Mode (right click), a icon is show next to the corresponding topic in Tree Mode to indicate this is on the Calendar. When you hover over the icon it shows details and if you click on it you are taken to the Calendar area.
  • Gantt Mode / Master Resources Setup – After setting up a new resources in ‘Project Tools > Master Resources’, you are now prompted to return to the topic you originally came from (as the next logical step is to assign the resource to the task) to save navigating back through interface.
  • Gantt Mode – The Task Titles on the far left now have click selection implemented. Single click focuses that tasks information into the right hand ‘Timeline Control’ panel and double click allows you to edit name. you can also use all normal create and move functions from the Home tab or via shortcut keys.
  • Core Rendering Enhancement – Amode’s backend control has been readjusted to produce faster performance gain of approximately 25% working with tree’s larger than 100 branches.
  • Spell Check Speed – A new spell check control has been designed and implemented to increase the processing and checking speed.
  Fixes:
 
  • Freezing vertical scroll bars – On some Vista installations vertical scroll bars would freeze after long periods of inactivity.
  • Flaw in calculated field logic – Parent topics percentage completed are always determined by the total of the child tasks. In cases where the starting point was ‘Not Set’, and then the value was changed to a actual percentage, the calculations where wrong. This has been resolved.
  • Alarm Manager failure – On some Vista installations, User Access Control problems caused alarms not to be registered with Alarm Manager. This is now fixed. Each time the Amode file is save, any alarms in the file will be sent to Alarm Manager for firing.
  • Filter Jump – Previously, if you have a large Tree and you where scrolled to the bottom item, and applied a filter that only matched a few items, it would appear the screen had gone blank. This was because the results where located at the top but the auto-scroll had not jumped up to the top. This is now fixed.
MindManager activation via Internet...
  MindManager license keys are activated and verified using your Internet connection. In cases of no Internet connectivity or when there are other security restrictions (i.e. corporate firewalls), the third option [Manual, via e-mail] should be selected. The process will allow you to retrieve an ID code that can then be sent to activation@mindjet.com for processing. A manual file will be returned to you that can be used to activate the product by selecting the second option [Manual, using a license file]. We recommend installing in trial mode while waiting for a response, therefore allowing you to begin using the product immediately.

Mindsystems Technical Support Policy

Mindsystems Amode, Mindsystems ThemeReader, KnowledgeLink: All users of these products are covered for support regardless of place of purchase. A valid user license is required to receive full support and the support representative may ask you to provide this for verification.

Other Products: Purchases made directly with Mindsystems receive full support (to level 2 maximum) at no extra charge, but if you purchase elsewhere and then require support you are not automatically covered. In such cases your query should go via your place of purchase or you can contact us to purchase a support subscription.

Mindsystems support is divided into 4 support types:

Online Self help online resources, FAQ and Knowledgebase, help files.
Level 1 Simple usage questions, minor installation issues, best practice techniques, basic setup information and product capability explanations.
Level 2 Functionality problems, advanced usage questions, warranty issues relating to software performance (caused explicitly by software and not user's OS or environment), medium complexity installation or application problems specific to user environment.
Level 3 Provided on per incident basis only, subject to task acceptance. Block charge of $450 AUD covering 3 hours of total work or part thereof. Advanced installation or application problems relating to user environment, issue tracking specific to user environment, compatibility analysis with third party products or user environment, advanced training, support for large deployments or groups, software customization.

The type of support you can access is dependant on your account status:

Trial User You are using a trial downloaded directly from Mindsystems.
Coverage: Online, Level 1
Unregistered You purchased from a reseller or not directly via Mindsystems.
Coverage: Online only (purchase of Support+ required for registration)
Registered You purchased directly from Mindsystems or have a valid license for Mindsystems Amode, Mindsystems ThemeReader or KnowledgeLink (you have a Order ID & Account).
Coverage: Online, Level 1, Level 2
Large Scale You have an Account Manager and site license for 20+ users.
Coverage: Online, check with Acc Manager for access details
Suspended Your account has been suspended for non-payment.
Coverage: Online

All standard and enterprise support services that do not include a direct onsite delivery, are considered to be best effort services. This means that Mindsystems will make every reasonable effort to provide timely, accurate and helpful support advice. Free support programs are limited to advice concerning our product range. Issues that move significantly into areas such as Operating System support or hardware support will generally be refereed back to your appropriate supplier.

Mindsystems accepts no liability, expressed or implied, for any damages that may arise from the implementation of our advice when we are not physically present to monitor the process.

The decision to act upon our technical advice, how our advice is interpreted and how it is ultimately implemented, is the final responsibility of the customer. In purchasing any product form Mindsystems or accepting any remote offsite support, the customer agrees to these conditions and agrees to hold Mindsystems immune to any damage that may occur as a result of such advice.

Onsite support, including training, carries some degree of liability. Mindsystems accepts responsibility for advice given when directly onsite and in such circumstances where the customer has made Mindsystems aware of all relevant issues. In such cases Mindsystems limits its financial responsibility to the cost of replacement of any software based component that may fail in the implementation of any support action. Hardware failures are not covered by this extension of liability, except in cases when liability is clearly implied by Australian Federal Law. Laws of all other countries, states or territories are rescinded in such cases and the customer agrees to abide by these terms in accepting any onsite support services from Mindsystems.

What products and services are covered by the Support Assurance Offer?


Unless stated otherwise, all premium software based products including license key activated software sold by us, accessory programs sold by us and software modules sold by us specifically for use with our primary products.

What is not covered by this assurance?


Although in the first instance we will make our best effort to ensure your software runs correctly, there are certain support issues outside of our control that we may not be able to support and therefore accept no liability for. These include:

1) Products that may have been created by third party companies to work in conjunction with our software, but that are not directly sold by us.

2) Errors or system conflicts caused by third party operating systems or programs. For example, we would not accept ultimate responsibility for an error that is caused by the Microsoft operating system, and is causing our software to malfunction. This is because our ability to extensively troubleshoot another companies software is limited. We would, however, make every reasonable effort to find a solution (usually through testing and simulating your error on our test computers). In this type of circumstance we will engage, if possible, in communication with the third party provider to offer suggested resolutions.

3) Large volume accounts in excess of 10 users for any single registered client or company, for capacity reasons, are automatically not covered by this agreement (unless confirmed as part of the original purchase). If this applies to you, you should contact us to discuss your options.

4) Server based deployments, complex network setups and domain based installations are not covered by this policy. Network deployment support is only available via formal maintenance agreements. Please contact us to discuss the available options.

5) Unregistered clients that have purchased from another source will receive basic advice and support, if the product is still currently offered by us. However if you have not purchased from Mindsystems, we reserve the right to withdraw or limit the support we offer you at any time.

6) If you have illegally modified, hacked or deliberately altered the core functionality of the software the license agreement is considered to be void, and therefore support cannot be offered under these circumstances.

7) If you deliberately run the software in a unsupported configuration (either hardware or software), Mindsystems will attempt to support you in resolving any issues, but ultimately will accept no responsibility for problems that may arise from such attempts. Similarly, issues that arise due to a lack of understanding concerning the system requirements will be resolved on a best effort basis only.

8) Other specialised and non-standard service based offerings including training, privately negotiated higher level support contracts or consultation services are not automatically covered by this assurance.

What type of support can I receive and for how long?


Mindsystems will provide you with unlimited email and telephone based support for as long as you continue to use the product.

This support covers answering product queries, resolving technical issues where possible and providing any other type of product usage information you may require.

This support is bound by the reasonable limitations of our resources, and does not imply guaranteed support if your requirements unreasonably exceed our capabilities.

Are there any limitations on the type of support I can receive?

Mindsystems will make every possible effort to work with you for as long required, until your support request reaches a reasonable conclusion. In some cases a reasonable conclusion may determine that a satisfactory solution is not possible due to technical constraints. At this point this assurance is considered fulfilled.

We do not however, accept any responsibility, expressed or implied, for faults that are not directly caused by the products we offer (ie. system incompatibility). As this assurance forms part of trading terms and conditions, you are deemed to have agreed to this if you purchase a product from Mindsystems.

If you plan on deploying the software across a large multi-user site (usually upward of 25 seats in a single purchase), your requirements may not always be fully satisfied by the lifetime support assurance.

Because we are interested in maintaining prompt and efficient service for all customers, larger scale software deployments may be more appropriately supported by a privately negotiated support contract.
